Activating your inner guidance system or why less is more

Who or what guides you? One of the things I have found fascinating working with people over the years is how many people let themselves be swayed by almost anything but their own "still, small voice" and then wonder why they feel unhappy and disoriented. We live in a society obsessed by more..except when it's a female body...then it's definitely a whole lot Less! Witness the size zero debate...and what exactly is a size zero anyway...is it Ireland/UK size 6 or size 4 (about the size of a handbag really..)

There is so much noise...the noise of the TV, the media, our family, work colleagues, the relentless critical voice in our heads that repeats over and over again that you are not enough, that you need more external stuff/approval/attention. But it never seems to be enough...we end up in relationships, jobs, marriages that we kinda, sort of knew were not right for us...but were swept away on the tide of "it's what everyone does", "but it seems so good on paper!". It's so deliciously, seductively easy to cede our power to outside forces and then blame them when it's not what we really wanted..

That true inner guidance system of our intuition and deep inner wisdom gets buried under a load of mental clutter. It's really difficult to be guided by your own inner guidance system..(the one that know what is really good for you...not your parents, family, friends and society) if you are busy trying to figure out how to please everyone...and have you ever had the misfortune to be around someone who doesn't know their own mind? Would you rather deal with someone who was clear about what they wanted and was willing to request and negotiate or someone who kept trying to figure out what YOU wanted and then complain because it's not something they want to do...(are you with me???)

Take Action!

  1. Have an information fast: for a week, don't watch any TV or just choose 1-2 programmes to watch and then turn off the set. Only read the paper once a week. Your life will continue without having to listen to the relentless emphasis on violence, crime and the self-righteous squawking of some commentators.
  2. Please yourself: When requests are made of you, begin to ask yourself what YOU want to do...and if you are not sure, ask for time to think about it or just say no. Let your Yes be Yes and your maybe be NO. Practise smiling and saying "sorry, I can't do that".
  3. Daily spiritual practice: commit to some sort of daily spiritual practice, whether that be prayer, meditation, journalling or writing out a gratitude list (Judith Morgan has a great one on her blog..)
  4. Define success for yourself: How about you begin by writing out...I know I am successful when...and write out 5-10 ways YOU define success!
  5. Consciousness Shifting: I know I've been raving about this method in other newsletters but I've just finished training in it and I'm going to offering gift sessions to readers of this newsletter in September and October..see below...

 

Consciousness shifting - a complimentary session for YOU!

One of the things I have noticed with clients over the years is that  quite often they will get stuck in patterns that block their progression so I end up seeing people getting frustrated at finding themselves doing the same old ding-dong again and asking in despair...(a la Talking Heads) "how did I get here? what have I done?".

I know there are many methods to help people shift their "stuff" and good luck to them all...I have no intention of getting into a "my method is better than your method" competition. But this is the method that I have found most effective in helping shift my own "stuff" and that I resonate most strongly with. 

What do I like about it? Well, it is both very systematic and intuitive. It uses software analogies (which I like...). It's fast and effective and it goes deep... It tends to work by stripping layers...so if you have a long-standing issue...it could take a few sessions to help you get to the stage where the compulsive element is gone, but ah, the deliciousness of that freedom. Imagine your life without that nagging voice!

    Course outline

    Chapter 1 What you hate gives a name to what you want: Identify solutions to current problems
    Chapter 2 With every gain, there is a loss: An important part of moving on is grieving for what you will leave behind and also identifying what you have gained from the situation
    Chapter 3 Most limits are self-imposed: We often limit ourselves more than other people do. Identify what beliefs are holding you back.
    Chapter 4 The past holds the clues to the future: When we look at our history, we can discover valuable clues to our life purpose.
    Chapter 5 Your purpose in life is right under your nose: Identify what others say about you.
    Chapter 6 Your purpose needs a vehicle: Research work and jobs
    Chapter 7 Your criteria for happiness: Is this really it?: Make sure that what you have chosen fits with what is really important to you.
    Chapter 8 The bottom line is the bottom line: Get your money stuff sorted
    Chapter 9 Life often does imitate art: Write your own fiction: Have fun exploring different scenarios!
    Chapter 10 Put yourself in opportunity’s way: Begin to act "as if". Learn to use your intuition
    Chapter 11 You don’t have to do it alone: Develop a support team to help you
    Chapter 12 Following your life blueprint: Draw up a plan for the next 6-12 months.

     

    At the end of this programme you will have a clear direction for both your life and career…assuming you are willing to show up and do the work..

    Time

    • 3-4 hours per chapter. This is to allow you to complete the homework. This is where much of the most valuable learning takes place. If you feel you cannot commit this time, this course is not for you.
    • To put this time commitment into perspective, how much time are you spending commuting a week…10 hours? 15 hours? This programme is not even asking for that much time PER MONTH.
    • And the difference is that at the end you will have a clear direction for your life….unlike commuting!

    Calls

    Showing up for the calls. Conference calls will be recorded but a key part of your commitment is showing up: both for yourself and for other people…

    Money

    The investment will be €80/$110/GBP55 per month.

    This is payable in advance at the beginning of each month.

    Payment can be made by bank transfer or via Paypal.

    Workbook: €20/$30/GBP 15 (including post & package). This is a once off payment.
