I would like to wish you and yours a very peaceful Christmas. It's not about what you get or even what you give. It's about WHO you are..this year...bring peace to your own life.

Taking inspired action...

First of all, many thanks to the people who replied to my request about a venue. Your kindness and thoughtfulness is much appreciated. I have located an excellent venue for the course in a beautiful location and well within budget...and I want to tell you how I did that with relatively little stress (at the end)

As part of the European project I am involved in (www.unec.eu.com) I had to organise a venue for next March. My budget was €100 per head per day for full accommodation. Those of you familiar with Dublin prices will know that I'd be lucky to get B & B in a henhouse for that! I agonised over it but then decided that I was just going to get a venue. First of all, I frantically phoned B & B's in Dublin, rang hotels, checked lots of other venues. I had no luck. I then just said that I was GOING TO GET A VENUE!

It was the same fierce intention that helped me learn to drive when I was afraid I couldn't (and caused my driving instructor to sarcastically point out that there was no need to drive like a bulldozer!). I left it and asked for guidance. I also decided to ask for help by sending you all an e-mail.  I then had an idea to contact an acquaintance of mine (who organises events). I hadn't even thought of her for months. She was immediately willing to help...and she very kindly suggested some places...I had tried some of them already, but she gave me the name of one place that I hadn't. This was the venue that I eventually booked.  It was within easy access of Dublin and was under budget...they also met all my other requirements. I visited it last month and it was ideal..

Now what's the point of this? The point is that when I got clear about what I wanted, let it go and then took inspired action (and I do believe contacting that acquaintance and following her suggestion was inspired) it worked out really well...and with a lot less stress than I had envisaged. Now of course the clever thing would have been to get clear first and THEN take the inspired action! What can I say...I'm a slow learner!

Take Action!

Do you have an area of your life where you have been putting in immense effort...but not getting the results you want? Why not try inspired action...it can't hurt! Get clear about what you want...number of sales to make, income to earn, whatever. Park what you need to achieve for a couple of days, let go of what you THINK should happen and then when you get a strange idea about someone to ring/contact...follow that. It should feel light and surprising when you do this...

Bits & Pieces - "The Secret" Movie

The movie is about the Laws of Attraction. (The main teachers of the laws of attraction are Abraham-Hicks. They offer free material on their website if you want to begin getting a taste of what it's all about.) The movie has some really interesting interviews although the "Da Vinci Code" ish approach at the beginning was a bit of a turn off for me. You can watch it online for $4.95 and then if you like it...purchase the DVD. I watched it and then purchased it...YOu can check it out at:www.thesecret.tv

By a delightful coincidence (or is it?) as I was writing this..a request came into my inbox about an opportunity to help feed 3 million children in 3 days by donating $1. Check out the movie at www.feed333.com and decide for yourself. I've made a donation...

Recommended - what I'm reading/listening to

India Arie

This artist was recommended to me by a woman I met at the Hayhouse conference. I had heard her sing on a Julia Fordham CD but other than that knew very little about her. She has an incredible voice and in her songs brings hope, joy and enlightenment. My only regret is that she has only brought out 3 albums and I only have two of them...Look her up on Amazon and you can hear some extracts from her albums...

Fashion Babylon by Imogen Edwards-Jones & Anonymous.

This is a witty light hearted read about the world of fashion. Let's just say it wouldn't be a world I would want my family and friends to go into. Much of it has been in the press already but if you enjoyed "The Devil wears Prada"...which I did immensely...you will probably enjoy this.

Taste and See: Adventuring into Prayer by Margaret Silf

This year I began a 2 year part-time course in Spiritual Direction. One of the books on the recommended reading list is this one. It's a great introduction to many different prayer methods. I like it because it is very rich, well written and it's obvious the author speaks from her own experience.
